Meet Dr.

Jason Barrett

Dr. Jason Barrett graduated from University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 2013. Immediately following graduation, he completed an advanced general dentistry residency in the US Navy while working under board-certified specialists in endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics and oral surgery. After serving for 10 years in the US Navy, Dr. Barrett practiced for a year in North Carolina in a larger dental practice before moving his family to Colorado. With over a decade of experience, education, mentorship, and general know-how under his belt, Dr. Barrett is eager to treat all of his patients with the highest quality of care they expect and deserve.

When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Barrett enjoys spending time with his family (wife, three daughters, and two dogs), hunting, camping, hiking, running, fishing, and gardening. The whole family has a love of the outdoors, so everyone is excited to have planted roots in Colorado!

Our Services

At Rock Ridge Dental Center, we offer a variety of dental services to meet your specific needs. We only use the best materials with proven track records to ensure a long-lasting and beautiful smile.

  • Dental exams and cleanings are essential for oral health. Regular visits catch issues like cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer early. Dentists check for problems, often using X-rays, which can save time and costs on complex treatments. Cleanings by hygienists remove stain, plaque and tartar, helping prevent gum disease and brighten your smile. These visits foster a relationship with your dental team, allowing for personalized care tips. Prioritizing dental exams and cleanings is vital for a healthy smile and a long-term health investment.

  • When a cavity forms in a tooth, the diseased tooth structure has to be removed and resin or white fillings can be used to restore the lost tooth structure. Another restorative option for cavities are called inlays and onlays. These lab fabricated restorations are made of high strength porcelain or gold and offer superior durability and resistance to recurrent decay.

  • Dental veneers are thin, custom shells that enhance teeth's appearance. Made from porcelain or composite resin, they address cosmetic issues like discoloration, chips, gaps, and lost tooth structure due to decay or trauma. The process begins with a consultation to evaluate teeth and plan treatment. After conservative enamel removal, impressions are taken to create the veneers. Temporary veneers are placed until the permanent ones are ready. Once made, veneers are bonded using a special adhesive for a natural look, improving smiles significantly. With proper care, they can last many years, making them a popular long-term cosmetic solution.

  • Dental implants are advanced dental devices used to replace missing teeth. They consist of a titanium post surgically implanted into the jawbone, which serves as a sturdy root for a replacement tooth or bridge. Once healed, a crown or bridge is custom-fitted and attached to the post, resulting in a natural-looking and functional tooth.

Dental implants offer several advantages over traditional dentures or bridges, such as improved aesthetics, enhanced oral function, and greater comfort. They also help maintain jawbone density, preventing the bone loss that can occur with missing teeth.

  • Dental crowns are protective caps for damaged or decayed teeth, restoring their shape, size, strength, and appearance. Made from gold or high strength ceramic porcelain, they can be customized for location and aesthetics for a very natural appearance. Crowns are used after root canal treatment, to support bridges, or to improve misshapen teeth. The process involves two appointments: one for preparation and impression, and another for placing the permanent crown. We incorporate the latest advances in materials and technology to create lifelike, durable crowns, enhancing both function and smile aesthetics for better oral health and confidence.

  • Dental extractions remove a tooth from its socket for various reasons:

    • Severe Tooth Decay: When a tooth can't be saved with fillings or crowns.

    • Periodontal Disease: Advanced gum disease may necessitate extraction to avoid further complications.

    • Impacted Teeth: Wisdom teeth or those lacking space need removal to prevent crowding and infection.

    • Overcrowding: Teeth may be extracted for orthodontic space and alignment.

    • Non-Restorable Teeth: Severely fractured or traumatized teeth may be beyond repair.

The procedure uses local anesthesia and sedatives, with recovery typically requiring a few days of care to prevent complications. Innovative techniques enhance safety, comfort, and recovery time for extractions.

  • Root canals treat decayed or infected tooth pulp, the innermost part containing nerves and blood vessels. Once bacteria invades the pulp from deep cavities, cracks, or trauma, pain and infection are the most common symptoms. During the procedure, the dentist removes the infected pulp, cleans, disinfects, and fills the root canals with biocompatible material, preserving the tooth. The treated tooth is usually restored with a crown. Root canals are essential for maintaining natural teeth and oral health, avoiding extraction. While often viewed as uncomfortable, modern techniques and anesthesia minimize pain, allowing quick recovery.
